šŸ‚šŸ•ÆSamhain has always been one of my favorite holidays, and for many reasons. I was always the black sheep of my family. The weird one. I have always been drawn to the Great Mystery and all things macabre. I hated Disney cartoons as a child, they were too bright and boring. I preferred Jim Henson and Brian Froud. And as much as I love and appreciate the summer, I am not truly in my element until itā€™s officially autumn. Growing up in Maine, some of my most magickal memories happened during the fall. It was the first day of autumn in 1993 when I fully came to realize I was not like the other kids in my school. I was bullied relentlessly because I was strange. I had purple hair and wore long gauzy dresses with combat boots while everyone else shopped at the Gap. It was also the October of 1993 when I held my very first Samhain ceremony. It was mostly out of curiosity, but as Iā€™ve gotten older, itā€™s become so much more than just a holiday, itā€™s a bittersweet reunion to those I have loved who have passed over. And I think many of us empaths enjoy Samhain so much because the weight of the world can get so heavy and for this one night, it feels just a little bit lighter.šŸ•ÆšŸ‚
