Apple picking season is one of my favorite times of year. I have fond memories of growing up in Maine and going to the old apple orchard a few miles down the road from my parents house. You could pick your own apples while sipping on cider and enjoying some mouth watering apple cider doughnuts. The sweet, crisp autumn air intertwined with the fresh, juicy apples put everyone is such a cheerful mood. I would help mom peel apples to make some of her famous apple squares and there was always a debate whether apple cider was better served hot or cold. I'm neutral. I love it both ways.
